Thelema RVA Business Meeting for the Fall Session

Agenda & Schedule:

• 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm: Welcome newcomers
• 7:30 pm – 8:00 pm:  Review and discuss the reading options for the season, followed by a vote which includes which texts, how many meetings (4 to 6), and who will preside over these meetings.
• 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Discussion around in-person meetings and any Q/A around initiation
• 9:00 pm – 10:00 pm:  Unstructured time
• 10:00 pm: Hard Stop

Some selections to choose from for the vote for the reading(s):

1. The Herb Dangerous & The Psychology of Hashish  (Parts 1 & 2)   [59pg, est. 80 minutes or 2 meetings]    An autobiographical account of Aleister Crowley’s experimentations and determinations thereby.
2. Book 4 Part 1 Meditation     [114pg, est. 151 minutes or 4 meetings]     The Way of Attainment of Genius or Godhead considered as a Development of the Human Brain
3. The Book of Lies     [140pg, est. 105 minutes or 3 meetings]     An admirable collection of Crowley’s aphorisms– Witty, subtle, and instructive paradoxes that challenge and exhilarate.
4. Magick in Theory and Practice     [About 205pg, est. 427 minutes or 10 meetings]     Crowley covers the art and science of magic, including magical theories, equipment, and gestures, as well as describing a variety of formulas and rituals.  Will begin at the last chapter and work backwards through the text.
5. The Book of Goetia of Solomon The King     [About 65pg, est. 109 minutes or 3 meetings]     Goetia refers to the practice of summons for the purpose of gaining knowledge and power. This book contains descriptions of the seventy-two which King Solomon was able to summon and control.  Aleister Crowley edited the book in 1904 and renamed it The Book of the Goetia of Solomon the King.
6. Liber Samekh and Liber ThIShARB     [Est. 108 minutes or 3 meetings]     Samekh – This is the ritual performed by Crowley to attain the knowledge and conversation of his HGA during the semester of his performance of his operation of the Sacred Magick of Abramelin the Mage     ThIShARB – Methods for attaining the magical memory, or memory of past lives, and an insight into the function of the Aspirant in this present life.
7. The Book of Wisdom or Folly     [85pg, est. 255 minutes or 6 meetings]     An extended and elaborate commentary on the Book of the Law, in the form of a letter from the Master Therion to his magical son (Charles Stansfeld Jones, Frater Achad) . This Book contains some of the deepest secrets of initiation, with a clear solution of many cosmic and ethical problems.
